The state Department of Motor Vehicles reported
Monday that computer equipment was stolen from a mobile customer
service vehicle that was vandalized in Hartford sometime between Dec. 5
and 14.
State police are investigating.
The DMV said in a
statement that the agency is trying to determine whether any personal
information might remain on the three stolen computers.
The
computers on the custom 1999 Winnebago, which provides DMV license
renewals and information to customers, are designed to purge
information nightly, DMV said.
The vehicle was at Interstate
Ford Truck Sales on Brainard Road in Hartford when the theft and
vandalism occurred. The vehicle was towed there Dec. 5, after breaking
down.
According to the DMV, the computers included listings of
fees paid and times of transactions from late November to early this
month.
